Road-trips & Comparison In Fashion Blogging | Jackie O My

Totally just kidding, because I've never been on a road trip in my life. Far from snapping pictures in gorgeous, exotic locations, this photography adventure saw me taking photos in a drive-through and wondering if this is rock bottom, blogger-wise.

Remaining positive and confident in the fashion-blogging world is tricky. There's always someone (or thousands of someones) with better equipment, more talent, a better wardrobe...the list is endless. That's a lot to compare yourself to, and there are times I feel under constant pressure to step up my game. Sometimes more than possible.

It's useful to remind myself to take a step back and breathe. This is not a competition, and instead of envying other girls that find success with blogging, I should be applauding them and lifting them up. After all, they prove it's possible to follow your passions and find success with them, even if you start off with no experience. I received some helpful advice recently that I've been trying to internalise: Don't aim to be an expert, just aim to be better than you were.

The Joshua Tree main house living room.

So many of us hope to one day visit Joshua Tree national park in California. Why not make it a slow-living getaway worth remembering by bunking at this hideaway for desert dreamers? The Joshua Tree House is an incredible hacienda just 10 minutes from the national park, set against the picturesque backdrop of the beautiful desert.
This is a place for dreamers to reset, reflect, and create. Designed with a 'slow' pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making local coffee by drip in the morning, choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, or by relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by over 100 Joshua trees and a starry night sky.
Looks like the owners met their goal, judging by the 5-star reviews this property boasts. Nothing but satisfied customers here! The main house features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a Jacuzzi, kitchen, and fireplace (not to mention gorgeous views). This place is the stuff dreams are made of, and I truly hope to stay here one day.

Living room of the Casita.

The Casita
is a two-bedroom house twenty minutes away from the national park. It was built in 1958, and boasts a hot tub, kitchen, and fireplace. This space is perfect for small families and groups. The final space is the Hacienda house, which also contains two bedrooms.

Brand Love: Vanessa Mooney | Jackie O My
Photos by Graham Dunn for Vanessa Mooney.

In my last 5 Things I Love post, I mentioned how thrilled I was to discover Los Angeles-based jewelry and fashion designer Vanessa Mooney. Now I'm delving into the brand's philosophy and sharing my favourite campaign photos.

I was immediately drawn to the Spring - Summer 2018 lookbook for one reason: model Zoi Aggeliki is the star of this shoot, and I am getting some serious classic Brooke Shields vibes from her (just look at those amazing brows!). This lookbook is all about casual style and summers spent in arcades by the pier, and Donna Lisa, the wardrobe stylist, did a fantastic job capturing the essence of carefree attitude within these outfits.
